The all-volunteer Waterloo Wind Band was established by internationally acclaimed composer and arranger Randol A. Bass with the assistance of Myra Klinksiek and originated as the Dripping Springs Concert Band. That group disbanded in the fall of 2011 due to rehearsal space issues, but quickly re-formed in South Austin, which proved to be more accessible to area musicians. The band grew rapidly and attracted more instrumentalists. Renamed the Waterloo Wind Band, its story resembled the life cycle of the mystical phoenix, which became the group’s unofficial mascot.Unique and rich musical experiences are provided for musicians and audiences alike. Musicians are challenged to play a wide variety of music for ensembles: concert band music, marches, orchestral transcriptions, jazz, movie and theater music.

The Waterloo Wind Band is a non-profit (501c3) community band organized for the purposes of: (1) keeping the arts alive and maintaining the American tradition of wind bands for audiences of all ages; (2) providing audiences and band members throughout the Texas Hill Country with a uniquely high quality musical experience through the adoption of a professional level of literature; (3) expanding the artistic experience of both the performers and the audience beyond what is commonly encountered.
